Michael,
I am researching my Kuhar family. I have recently begun to gather information about my mother's side of the family. My paternal grandfather's mother was a Kuhar. My family lives in northeastern Ohio, and I noticed you have family in Ohio. My g-grandmother is Josefne (this is the spelling on her headstone) Kuhar Ardo, born 1874, died 1923. Some of her children: Elizabet(once again, this is the spelling on her headstone) b. 1907 d. 1926; Joseph Jr b. 1896 d. 1972; Frank b. 1905 d. 1941; Louis (my grandfather) b. 09/04/1909 d. July, 1986; John (there is some question as to whether this is really a son of Josefne Joseph) b. 12/22/1894 d. November, 1968. From what my mother can remember, John was homeless, and may have been an alcoholic. She only remembers seeing him a couple of times when she was young. Louis married Mary Vojtko(spelling later changed to Wojtko). If any of this sounds at all familiar, please contact me as I would like more information on this branch of my family. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi, my maternal grandmother was a Kuhar. Her name was Anne. I know there was at least 2 brothers and 1 sister. She married Andrew Kulik. They had 4 daughters...Judy, Margie, Ann (my mother), and Andrea. You mentioned family in N.E. Ohio....that may very well be us. The only one that doesn't live here, is Andrea, she lives in Michigan.

I just saw your post to the Kuhar board. My Kuhar family lived in Lorain, OH and a few attended St. Ladislaus Church, but I think the majority may have attended the Hungarian Reformed Church. I don't have any information on Josefne's family. I also have her listed as "Susannah" on her son, Louis's, birth certificate.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Lois

My great aunt was Mary Wojtko. I know that she married Louis Ardo and had 3 children: Mary Lou, Timothy, and Thadeus. Don't know if this helps you any...

I see that you have Beres/Wojtko in your list of surnames. I am looking for info on Elizabeth Beres and Alexander Wojtko. This is my grandmother's family and they all attended St. Ladislaus Church in Lorain.
Any help would be appreciated!

Deborah;
Mary Wojtko is my maternal grandmother, Marylou is my mother. I, too, have little information on Elizabeth. The little information I have I got from my great-aunt, Irene Wojtok Traicoff.
Unfortunately, Aunt Rene has Alzheimer's and no longer recognizes me or my voice on the phone so I am no longer able to speak with her to obtain any further information.
Elizabeth was born in Hungary, but I don't know where; I don't know when she came to the U.S., I have tried searching the lists at Ellis Island, but so far have not been able to locate her. She allegedly met Alex at a cousin's wedding in New York, but I have no proof of that.
Where do you live? Who are your parents?
