YOUNGSTOWN, OH - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. at the Christ Church Presbyterian for Margaret S. (Kuhar) Kruise, 89, also known as “Maggie” or “Marge,” who passed away on Nov. 12, 2014.
She was born July 24, 1925, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) daughter of Stephen Kuhar and Anna Staron.
She was a graduate of Chaney High School and worked as a sales clerk for Strouss Hirschberg Dept. Store in downtown Youngstown.
She was also a USO hostess during World War II.
She was a member of the Christ Church Presbyterian for over 40 years, and was very proud of her Slovak heritage.
Marge was a meticulous housekeeper, and loved her home.
She loved Polkas, dancing, music, playing the piano, baking and all sorts of flowers, but she truly enjoyed her time with her family.
Surviving are her husband, Leo J. Kruise, whom she met on a blind date and later married, Aug. 16, 1947; a daughter, Susan McIlrath of Pittsburgh, PA.; two grandchildren, Bradley McIlrath of Denver and Scott McIlrath of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ann Kulik and Helen Muter; and two brothers, Stephen and Edward Kuhar.
Friends will be received Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., Youngstown.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Christ Church Presbyterian or a local charity of your choice.
