Benjamin A. Kuglin Drops Dead on Street in N. Tona.
Benjamin A. Kuglin, 40 years old, 178 Miller street, a life-long resident of the Tonawandas and a veteran of the World War, dropped dead at Sommer and Oliver streets at 4 o?clock yesterday afternoon. Coroner J. E. Helwig was called and gave the cause of death as heart disease.
Kuglin served as a secret agent with the expeditionary forces in France for 22 months. He was gassed while operating near the front and his heart was affected by the poison. He was a member of Tonawandas Post No. 264, American Legion, and Electric City lodge, I.O.O.F.
He was talking with a friend, Edward Kosky, just before he expired. He turned around after telling Kosky he was going home and fell to the sidewalk. Kosky and other persons in the vicinity carried the man into Arthur Zuch?s store on the corner. Dr. Julius Markovitz was summoned and pronounced Kuglin dead.
The body was removed to his home. It will be taken to Hamp?s Funeral Home, 37 Adam street, where services will be conducted at 2:30 o?clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. Craig W. Schwartz will officiate and burial will be in the Bear Ridge cemetery.
Kuglin is survived by his wife, Jeanette, nee Dennis; a daughter, Aneita Marie; parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Kuglin, and two brothers, Fred and Herman, all of North Tonawanda.
