Janet,
I have extensive knowledge of this particular Kujawa line (even going back into Poland direct line to 1775).

The info that you provided in this post matches what I have! I show that Valerya Kufel - Boczek died March 22, 1908.
I am curious if you are from one of the four sons of John and Catherine or if you are from one of the six daughters.

I do believe that your grandfather John Kujawa's parents were Frank and Phyllis Kujawa. If I am correct I would greatly like to hear from you because we are very distant cousins.

After Frank moved to Detroit and married Phyllis there (Phyllis was also originally from the same vacinity where Frank was raised), I lose this and one other part of the family. Frank Kujawa's sister Frances was married to an Adamski and at one point lived quite near the Kujawa's. Frank Kujawa had three additional sisters as well as 10 first cousins that bore the name Skiba & an additional 9 first cousins that bore the name Idalski. I descend from the Skiba portion of the family.

I also have some limited info on the Boczek family line and would be interested in learning more about Elizabth's and her family. I have some info on John Boczek's siblings Frank & Joanne (married a Suszek).

I have ancestral marriage connections to both the Kufel and Boczek family lines and can provide at least some info on all families listed here.

Brad,

I am excited to hear from you as I have little info on the Kujawa side.
I am the oldest daughter of Beatrice Kujawa Szymanski, she was the second child of John and Catherine Boczek Kujawa. Of her siblings,4 sisters and 1 brother survive. The 10 children had a total of 27 children.
My great grandfather Frank Kujawa was married to Tillie, or Otelia. I know of a cousin Harriet Suszek, she had a daughter, JoAnn married name Kudla. I attended her wedding when I was a young girl. My mother spoke of her Adamski cousins, I think there was a Tony. There was one who had TB during the depression, and all the cousins got sent to an "open air camp".

I will be glad to share info I have, we have a copy of the passenger list when Simon came to this country, and also Tekla Kuffel with Baby Valeryia. Tekla's death certificate and newspaper article when she died listed her town of birth in Poland/Germany .

I look forward to hearing from you.

Janet,
So great to hear from you, and so quickly too. We are
definitely related. so.........HI cousin ! welcome to the family.

I have a literal ton of info on a large portion of the Kujawa line. My weekest lines are yours and the Adamskis.

A bit on the family.....
Frank Kujawa's parents were Jacob Kujawa and Catherine Kaminski. Jacob had one full sister and a half sister. The full sister was Catherine Kujawa whom married Jacob Skibski (AKA Skibinski / Skiba). Jacob Skiba had a sister; Frances (Mrs Adam) Suszek and from all indications all three families left Poland shortly after Catherine Kujawa's marriage in 1870. All families arrived in the US and spent between 3 and 5 years in Syracuse,NY. It is believed that is where Frank Kujawa was born. In spring 1876 both families came to Posen MI. By 1880 / 1883 Jacob Skiba's siblings consisting of a brother and two addition sisters as well as Jacob Kujawa's young half sister arrived in the US and some went to Posen while a couple families went to Alpena. The younger half sister was named Magdalen Jaracz and she married an Idalski in Alpena in May 1883.

Tillie, Otelia I know her as Phylliis --- anyway Phyllis Wojt married Frank Kujawa in Detroit in May 1898. I also have significant info on the Wojt family as Tillie / Phyllis had several siblings - including John, Anthony, and Rose whom all have descendants that married some of my other family lines and John and Rose have descendants that I am in semi-consistant contact as they are also doing family research.

Phyllis / Tillie brother John Wojt married Bronislau Szypolewski. Bronislau was a half sister to Frank Kujawa. Frank's father Jacob died in Posen, MI in 1883 and his widow remarried and had one child (daughter Bronislau).
Tony Adamski was actually your mothers Uncle Antony Adamski (married to Frances Kujawa - one of Frank's sisters). I have only a list of children for them (courtesy of a combination of the 1900, 1910 & 1920 census's).

Cousin Harriet Suszek was actually married into the family (her husband was Florian Suszek. Florian was a son of JoAnne Boczek and Albert Suszek. JoAnne Boczek was a younger sister to John Boczek. I have info on this family as it is related to me through the Suszek family (Albert's mother). Additionally John and JoAnne Boczek had another brother Frank whom was married twice. Frank's first wife was Mary Skibinski. Mary was a first cousin to Albert Suszek.... But that is a whole different email. As is the email with my Kufel connections......

As you can surmise - I have so much info that it would be much easier to correspond offlist -- my email is blackknight9492@yahoo.com

Looking forward to hearing from you as I have much to share.

All the best
