KUFFEL/JWICKA Lubiewo,Westprussia Now Poland
I recently found the origins of my Kuffel family. Paul Kuffel married Elisabeth Jwicka in 1843 in Lubiewo, Westprussia, Prussia. It is now part of Poland near Bydgozcyk (sp?). There are many Kuffels in this area and in Gross Byslaw where my Kuffels moved later. Does anyone out there have a connection? There is part of an extraction available for Gross Byslaw at Familysearch.org that has many Kuffels in it from about 1845-1856. That is how I found my connection.

Hi,
I'm not sure, but my great-grandfather's father was supposed to be Charles Kuffel. I found this Charles as a son of Paul and Elisabeth of Highland, Wisconsin on the 1870 Census. Could this Paul and Elisabeth be the same as yours? Would be interested to find out since everything we know of the Kuffels is what is in this post.

I would be interested to discuss with you the Jwicka portion of your family if you have any information on it. My great grandmother's name was Marta Iwicki (Iwicka, Jywicki, Jywicka) and was born in Lubiewo. She came to the United States in 1908 with her only living child, Victoria.
Any information you may have on that family name would interest me.
Thank you for your time, Mary White

My great great grandmother was married or had an affair, not sure which, with a Kuffel. Her brother, Frank C Petera lived in Nebraska and South Dakota and He is my great grandfather. Would love to learn more about the Kuffels.
