SHARON, PA. – Sam Kudelko Sr. of 590 Spencer Ave., passed away on April 30, 2011, at 2:15 p.m. at Sharon Regional Hospital ER.

Sam was born Oct. 8, 1928, in Farrell, Pa. to Peter and Anna (Prudnik) Kudelko.

He was a 1947 graduate of Sharon High School, class chairman for the 50th reunion of class 1947. He was also a member of the Local Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, as a master plumber. He was the previous owner of Farrell Plumbing and also was employed by various plumbing contractors in the Valley. He retired from Packard Electric in Warren in 1992.

He was a member of St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church since birth. He was very active in church organizations, co-chairman of the church council with the building of the church and social center in Hermitage, Pa. He recently served on the church advisory board. He was president of the St. Michaels Bowling League and instrumental in bringing the national A.B.C. Byzantine League to the Shenango Valley

Mr. Kudelko also volunteered time with the church bingo and catering. He was a member of the Slovanian Home, Russian Club, Union Local No. 197, Men’s Club of St. Adelberts, and North Sharon Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred “Millie,” whom he married on Sept. 8, 1951; a daughter, Marcia Ann (Bill) Hunter of Brookfield; two sons, Sam Jr. and his wife, Sharon Kudelko of Transfer, Pa. and Michael and his wife, Angela Kudelko of Greenville, Pa.; five granddaughters, Megan, wife of Michael Pisarcik, Alyson, wife of Brian Hardman, Alexis, wife of Robert Santell, Kristen Kudelko, and Molly, wife of Brian Campbell; two grandsons, Ryan Kudelko and Michael Kudelko; three great-grandchildren, Madeline and Michael Pisarcik and Brandon Hardman.

Mr. Kudelko was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Durkot; and four brothers, Paul, Steve, Michael, and John Kudelko.

Friends may call Tuesday, May 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Stephen J. Sherman Funeral Home, 2201 Highland Road in Hermitage, where at 6 p.m., there will be a Parastas service.

A Divine Liturgy will be on Wednesday, May 4, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church. Also on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, a Panachita will be held.

Arrangements entrusted to the Stephen J. Sherman Funeral Home, 2201 Highland Road in Hermitage.
