Fran, I had no idea how common the Kucera name was either, until I started researching! I believe it's the 10th most common Czech name and very difficult to research unless you have some good info to start with. I didn't have much at all, but with persistence I traced my family back to their native village of Solopysky in old Bohemia. I then hired a researcher there who was able to take me back a few generations before he hit a brick wall. My best U.S. resource for info on my Kucera family's origins came from church records, so don't overlook them. I still have a lot of unanswered questions about my Kucera family here in the U.S. - but maybe someday all the puzzle pieces will come together. That's all we can hope for as genealogists. Keep plugging away.

I am, but there are many that settled in Cleveland. I am having trouble sorting them out after my great grandparents, Joseph & Josephine, who are buried in Calvary Cemetery.

Is this Fran who was married to Leonard? Lee's 'Uncle Lenny' If so, you're related to me, my grandpa was Leo J. Kucera, an attorney, died in Mexico age 47. His parents were Joseph & Josephine, who lived on Cannon Rd in Solon. My father has an old article about our ancestors, Kuceras first Bohemian family in Maple Hts, OH. I made a copy but cannot locate it. Update 6/5/14, I found the article and have posted pictures from it to my tree. Josephine's surname was Uhlik, and she had 5 sisters, 2 of whom died young. Her father, Joseph Uhlik, did some of the masonry on the Pres. James Garfield monument.

Just remembered, my gr great grandma Josephine Kucera's maiden was Uhlik. Gr grandfather Joseph's sister was Rose, who married Frank Wrentmore. Found something saying Rose was stepdaughter to Charles & Vincencie Kouba. Am thinking Vincencie was a Jirava, married Kucera & had Rose, Frank & Joseph, then remarried a Kouba. Just not certain. Rose Wrentmore is buried in Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, OH. I think Frank is also there.

I am doing some family searching and found your post which is very exciting for me. John and Susan Kuchera were my grandparents and Susan was my aunt who lived in Akron, Ohio. My dad was Andrew, wife Jennie and had two children, Andrea and Susan and we have lived in Minnesota. He also had a brother named Martin and sisters Millie, Ruth and Mary.

Kucera is a very common Czech name. I don't recognize any of the names in your post, so doubt they are related to my Kucera family. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
