My name is Veronica Kubacki, I live in Concord NH. My Father Ronald Kubacki grew up on long island with his father Henry and mother Jean as well as his two sisters, Gail and Deborah. My grandparents came here from Poland. My great Grandparents did speak any english. When they came form Poland they Americanized our last name from Kubatski to Kubacki. I wold love to find out if we are related. My email is Veronica.kubacki@yahoo.com. I can't wait to hear back from you.

Just wanted to let you know there are some Kabacki but they are Albanian. Have you tried Soundex? It is common with foreigners for the letters to get switched or spelled phonetically. Handwriting with fluorishes can be read wrong so indexed wrong - have corrected some here. Try PeopleSearch.com + AnyWho.com for alternate names and spellings - sometimes maiden names. May have to look at children or friends to get there round about.
Good Luck.

Vernoica,
In responce to you message board. I do NOT believe we have a connection at this time. My Great Grandmother Marie or Veronica Kabacka or Kabacki was married to Walter Wajbel. They were the parents of Karol-Francis or Frank Wajbel that married Veronica or Maria Lewandowski. They came to America about 1908 and settled in Maryland. Other than the last name of Kabacka that was recorded on the son Karol Frank Wajbel's Death certificate and social security card I have no other knowledge of the Kubucka relationship. Would love to know more. Good luck

Re: Finding Catherina Krause Kubatcki in Milwaukee's German Newspapers Index

"My great-grandfathers' name was John Kubatzki and my great-grandmother's name was Catherina Kubatzki born on January 14,1835. Her maiden name was Krause."

In case it's of interest to your research, there are death notices for "Katharina Kubatcki", d. 1916 (referencing Merkel) in the local German newspapers. I noticed that John's burial is not listed online with Catharina and the Merkels. I wonder if it's because he died before 1910 (cem. records destroyed in a fire 1909, most are not reconstructed); or the grave record is listed differently; or he's not buried there? Unfortunately, I don't have any index entry for him in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).

Indexing Milwaukee's German newspapers continuously since 2007... helping family researchers collect evidence of our historic German-American culture.

* BTW - both Kubatcki & Kubatzki spellings can actually sound the same depending on the language background of the speaker. And sort-of related: it's eye-opening to see grave markers in Milwaukee's St. Adalbert cemetery with a spelling like "Czimmermann" (tsimmermann).
