Was in the army in Posen, acheiving a high rank. Married about 1875 to Jozefa Piekarska, probably also in Posen. Some of Josephine's family also married x-soldiers. August came to America about 1886 and after serving 4 years in the U.S. military was granted citizenship. The family then settled in Chicago by the end of 1892.

Looking for possible parents or siblings of August.

I am a grandson of a grandson of August (Augustus) Krygier. My grandfather was Adolph Grabowski (later changed to Gross) - Adolph was born in 1901 in Chicago to Alexander Grabowski and Prakeida (aka Priscilla or Sadie) Krygier who was a daughter of August Krygier (according to various baptism, birth, marriage, and death certificates on which August is named). I have various stories about August, who was a stern man apparently. I met Priscilla, my great grandmother (daughter of August), when I was a young boy - she lived in Chicago on West Wilson Avenue which is three blocks north of Agatite St. where some daughters and sons of August (and his wife, after he died) also lived.

I believe August's oldest son was named Al or Alexander and his daughters were named Victoria (who had a son Jerome) and Janette (or Gennett) who never married - and perhaps other sons and daughters.

I'd love to share information and stories if you wish. I do not give my real name on this website, but you can email me at dave_goodspeed@yahoo.com if you want to get in touch.
