I have answers to your questions. My father was Michael's son and Agnes Krych brother. Most of the information that the family has has come from records that I hold.

Spanek: There are a number of us doing Dudkiewicz and Dutkiewicz research. There is only one branch of the family that has the DUD and the rest of Michael's brother and sisters in Michigan and Chicago went by DUT. My father was Joseph and I am the youngest of all the first cousins as my father married late in life and he was 51 when I was born. Our cousin Paul Lipinski and Jim Dutkiewicz, both in California and both from different siblings have also been doing research for many years. I have been doing this for 25 years and Paul at least the same. I will be happy to answer any questions you or any Dudkiewicz family members have. If I don't know, then perhaps Paul will know. I remember Kathy Panek as a little girl in Thorp, how are you related to her?

Barbara,
I am Kathy's(Kluk)Panek sister. My father was George and Mother
Rose Krych. Did you formerly or still live in Green Bay? I'm in Oshkosh and
would love to get together. Paul still writes to my step-mom Kathrine
(Krych)Panek. She and my mother were sister and daughter of Agnes. Paul came
to Thorp to visit a few years ago and he stays
in touch at Christmas.

I think I can remember you coming to Thorp as a kid. I'd love to get as much
information about the family as possible. But Kay, Dolores, Abe and Joey are the only
Krych's left. Kay doesn't understand the importance, so I think
Abe and Aunt Lor are the next best to get information. They're the younger
ones, but they may remember things.

Fill me in on where you are and how you are.
Susie

Hi Susie,

I am writing this from work. I remember you and your siblings from when you lived on the hill in Thorpe. Most of the information on the family came from me. I have copies of original papers and also papers from Uncle Phil (my godfather). When I asked Uncle Phil years ago for information I got more than I bargained for and probably more than he wanted to tell me. Let me know what info you need and I will try fill in the blanks.

I live in Schaumburg, Ill with my husband Russ (26 years married) and I have 2 children. Stacy is 23 and student teaching, she will graduated this May. My son Michael (19) (named after my grandfather Michael) is a freshman at the University of Illinois in Champaign. Your mother Rose was my first cousin. As I said before, I am the youngest of that generation.

I have always lived in Chicago and the Chicago area. My Uncles Louis, Harry and Phil lived in Green Bay. Louis and Phil owned a butcher shop on Porlier St. and surprisingly of the 6 houses on that block, 4 belonged to Dudkiewicz. We also have family that spells their name Dutkiewicz.

They live in the southern suburbs of Chicago and Detroit. The family in Detroit belongs to Jacob Dutkiewicz. He was Michael's brother.

the named got changed when they arrived in America sometime around 1889-1890. When Michael pronounce his name the immigration officer spelled it Dud however, Frank (his oldest son) was old enough to spell the name correctly but to a different immigration officer. Thus Frank and his family are they only ones who spell their name Correctly with the "DUT" and all of his brothers and sisters spell the name "DUD".

Boss has come in and I must leave.

Barbara,
Now that you mention it, I guess I did know you were
from Chicago. What was your mother's name? I never knew
Phil was your godfather. What a nice man. My home email
address is melvin1@voyager.net.

Our cousin Jim Grzenia lived in Schaumberg for some years,
but now is in Arlington Heights I think. Do you ever stay
in touch with any of the Chicago cousins.

My sister Kathy is still in Montana. Her oldest Tony, got
married last summer. She has five kids. Brother Dave has been
in the casino business for as long as I can remember. He's in
San Diego and has had Paul visit, I think. Younger sister, Donna,
has two girls Erin 16 and Cara 12. They live in Chippewa Falls, WI
with Donna and Rod. Then there's Edzui - except we don't call him that
anymore. He took over my dad's business after he died. Still in Thorp.
He's not married - can't find anyone good enough - it's too bad, he has
a lot to offer.

I'm in Oshkosh, as I said last time, and live with Rick and our dog melvin
(hence my email address).

I'd love to get together sometime to share what I have with my aunts and
uncles and then to fill in the earlier generation.

Wait til I tell Kathy that we met on the internet.

P.S. do you ever get up north?

Sorry I don't know if we're even slightly related in any way, I live in England but I found it strange how my brother is called Paul Krych and my dad is called Antony, how strange is that! Just thought i'd share it with you. Good luck with the search mate.

Have someone lookup an obit for you and see if Agnes is
mentioned by her married name.
I could not find her after 1910.

Hi, Susie,
I haven't contacted you in a while. We are now in Pennsylvania. Just wanted to let you know, I found a record of the marriage of Michael's parents, Micolaj/Nicolaus Dutkiewicz and Maryanna Smolkoska, in the Archdiocesan Archives Gniezno. I have sent off for a copy of this record and for research into the children's names. When I receive it, I will let you know and send you a copy. I also have some new information on Katherine (Krych) Kubacki's family, I think. I would like to bounce some ideas off you when you have time. If you prefer you can contact me at dakrych@comcast.net

Hopefully I can be of some assistance through my father. I lived 3 doors down from the meat market on Porlier St. in GB.

I knew Phil, Louis, and Mary quite well. I used to go to Packer games with my great uncle Phil in his red and white 57 Chevy. My grandfather, Harry had passed well before I was born. My father along with several siblings was born to Bernice and Harry Dudkiewicz.

I would love to piece together some family history. I know I had some relatives from the Thorp area. One in particular was Stanley Janake. There's probably some spelling errors there.
