Thanks for all the information. I had done testing for my mother's maternal line through FamilyTreeDNA years ago. My Krueger line comes from my mother's father so I didn't think I could test for that. Is there any test now allowing for a female to test mother's father's family?

I am also interested because I have a friend researching Krueger also who does have a male descendant and has never been able to find origin other than "Mecklenburg" I will pass this info on.

I have found through genealogy research that my Krueger's came from Friedland, Mecklenburg-Strelitz. I could find a descendant back to about 1769 but records were destroyed so I could not find out more. It is not known if my Kruegers originated elsewhere earlier than this.
