Having read the message board re Krneta Families, my mother maiden name was Krneta. She is originally from Strmica near Kninin the Krajina region (which unfortunately is no longer!!) My grandfather died two years ago aged 97 and we have managed to trace our family tree back to his great grandparents. None of whom were from Prijedor, but there is nothing to say that a cousin or brother could have moved there. My grandfather celebrated Sv Jovan on 20th January so going by the family saints day it is highly unlikely that we are from the same "Krneta Clan" however it is always great to know that there are more Krneta's out there and who knows, maybe if we were able to trace back far enough we may find that we are distantly related. Good luck with your search!!

My wife is a Krneta and we passed the proud name to our three sons. I was baptised Serbian Orthodox later in my life and celebrate Slava on the 21st of November (Saint Archangel Michael). We also celebrate the Krneta Slava which is January 20th Saint Jovan. My wife's family is also from the area around Kninin.

My Grandfather (Duro) and Uncle (Simo) came to england after the war too, hence my mother and grandmother joining them. It's a small world and unbelievable how many of us "british-Serbs" there just are. I bet my mother would know your uncle. When did he own the pub in Strmica? From my many (and very happy) visits there pre 1995 I recall there were about four pubs, of which the Cerovac'c owned one, right on the "bend" between Strmica and Komalic and Mile Rados owned the one by the train station. Don't recall who owned the other two.
Which part of Strmica are your family from? Ours are from the Radosi and Colic parts.
