My husband is related to Krcmarik. I have been doing his family tree along with mine.
His grandfather was Peter or Petr Krcmarik who lived in Cicero Illinois. He came over from Bohemia but I do not have the exact time. I know a lot of Krcmarik's live in Michgian and I feel I have some connection with them. If anyone is interested just e-mail me.

The Same Family Name

Hi Vicki,

my name is Radovan Krcmarik and I live in Bratislava, Slovakia. As you see, we have the same family name. I don´t know, how far you are in the search of your relations (I know nothing about you), but maybe I can a little bit help you.
Krcmarik (pronunciation Krtchmaareek) is Slovak name, so your grand-grand-grand... parents must have been Slovaks. Krcma is in Slovak language a pub, an inn and Krcmar is owner of this house. Krcmarik is a smaller Krcmar (sorry, but I am not so good in Englisch).
I am twenty-six, and three years ago I finished history at our University. I spend a lot of time to reach my family genealogy. I suppose, this name came from a country around Slovak towns Nitra and Zilina. (In Bratislava there live only a few Krcmariks.) My father and grandfather were also from Nitra, an old town (the fourth greatest town in Slovak Republik with about 90 000 inhabitants) in the West of our country.
Well, I don´t know, whether you needed my help, but if you would like to answer me, I can write you more.

Yours sincerely
Radovan Krcmarik

Hi Radovan,

I live in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, USA. Believe it or not I have been to your country and to your town. In 1996 my family took a trip to Europe and while we were there we stopped in Selec, a small village near Trenchin. We have distant family there and went to visit. With their help, we traced our family back to a Stefan Krcmarik. Please write me back and let me know if there may be some realtion.

Thank You.

Sincerely,
Vicki Krcmarik

Hi Vicki,

thank you for your message. It was a nice surprise for me to read an e-mail from the other side of ocean. I do not know, whether we are far relatives (but it would be great!), however I can write something about my search for the ancestry.
As sources I used our family documents (birth certificates) and Slovakian archives. I don´t have the results here, but I remembered, I found my ancestors till 18-th century. Almost all of their lived in the area of villages around Nitra and Topolcany. As I found in our archive-books (books of birth, weddings and deceases), the Krcmariks were very numerous in that area. It was a hard work for me to find my family-tree.
One of my forefather was called Stefan, but he lived in a village by Nitra. Other names of my ancestors were Frantisek, Jan and Tomas (I don´t know it now by heart). And what else about your family did you find in Slovakia? (If I could ask.) Do you know which of your ancestor has come to America as the first and when? It could be very interesting.
I´m sorry if I did not help you, but it is too difficult on this way, and maybe we are not any relatives. In any case I am glad to know you.

Sincerely,
Radovan

Hey, there's 15 of us hanging out in Chicago!

I've been quite curious lately if any other "Krcmariks" are out there. I am the seventh child of a James P. Krcmarik who used to be the President of the First National Bank of Cicero in Illinois. He's got a brother John, and a couple sisters. All but John has now passed away. I've just started documenting my dad'd side of the family and will be compiling more stuff as time goes on.

Surnames: Krcmarik, Valdman, Jindra
Radovan,

I am a descendent of Josefa Krcmarik.
To the best of my knowledge he was from Dlazdova, Bohemia.
His wife's name was Marie Valdmann. They had a daughter named Mary who was born in Dlazdova 30 May 1837.

Mary married George Jindra after she immigrated to Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, USA (about 1859). I am unsure if her parents came over or only her.

Do you have a Josefa Krcmarik in your family tree?
Is Dlazdova in the area you were discussing in previous emails?

I am anxious to find out if we have a family connection.
I have just started researching this side of the family, so any information you could give me on the family names may be helpful.

Hi Ann. I'm responding to an email inquiry you sent to me through familyhistory.com

Here's the deal with a whole swath of us Krcmarik's in Illinois.
My grandfather was James P. Krcmarik, the son of a certain Peter Krcmarik (middle initial, I have no idea) whom, with his wife Marie Mika (My dad is so oblivious to this family tree stuff - i find wringing information nout of him similar to pulling teeth). Supposedly, they came right from somewhere in Czechoslovakia and migrated here. They settled in the Western fringes of Chicago in the Suburbs of Cicero and Berwyn. Right now, I'm requesting a copy of my grandfather's SS-5 (Social Security) Application, which should have on it, the SS #'s and the full exact names of my great grandparents (Peter and Marie). At least then, i'll have some exact information to go back with.

My family consists of my mom and Dad, myself, and my twelve siblings (Yes, we are all from the same mom and dad, and yes, there are no twins!)

There seems to be a grouping of other Krcmarik's clustered around California, and the Wisconsin or Michigan area. I saw ages ago some email posted from a Radovan Krcmarik who lives in Bretislava, Slovakia.

I wonder where we all fall in place in relation to one another. I need to clarify some basic information about myu own family first and then delve through some obscure stuff somewhere out there that may provide clues to more ancestors.
