Classification: Query
Surnames: KRABER
There are an estimated 250 living individuals in the U.S. with the KRABER surname. Close to all of these KRABERs are likely from one of three immigrant KRABER families (dates of immigration are in parenthesis):

1) Adam KRABER Family of York County, PA (1740s)
2) Christian KRABER Family of Pittsburgh, PA (1871)
3) Gottlob KRABER Family of The Heartland (IA, IL, KS, etc.) (1880s)

There are three additional KRABER families where the KRABER surname is thought to have died out:

1) Christian KRABER Family of Harrisburg, PA and Baltimore, MD (1840s)
2) Julius KRABER Family of York County, PA (1856)
3) Arthur KRABER Family of Naperville, IL (1867)

Please let us know to which family you belong. I am a descendant of Gottlob Kröber (Kraber). I will help any KRABER trace their KRABER ancestry.

Jim

I have 644 individuals in my database for the family tree of Christian Kraber (1838-1910) of Pittsburgh, PA. It goes back to Anton Kröber (1540-1590) of Winningen, Germany in the Rhineland. His named is spelled Tönges Cröver in church records. Most of this tree I pieced together from familysearch.org.

You can email me at yahoo.com so I can send you the tree. My ancestry.com and yahoo.com user names are the same.

Bryan,

I am assuming that your great-grandparents are Fred and Gladys Kraber. Fred Kraber (1897-1963) was a grandson of Gottlob Kröber who died in Hohenkirchen, Germany in 1895. The Kröber family name originated from the small village of Kröbern, located west of Altenburg, Thuringia, Germany.

I've attached a file of the lineage of Fred Kraber going back to the 14th century.

I can see the attachment on the reply below mine but I don't see it on the reply to my post. Did it not attach?

Although GEDCOM attachments are supposedly allowed, it apparently doesn't work. I sent the file to your email.
