My late husband George's great grandparents (the emmigrants) were Matt KRABAL and Mary FINE. They came to America through Ellis Island in the very early 1900's - ca 1904 from Yugoslavia. They were of Bohmian descent, or so George was always told. Matt was here first, working for a lumber company in NY. Within 2 yrs he migrated into Johnstown where I believe many Slovenian / Slovak's settled. They're buried at st. Teresa's Catholic Church Cemetery just outside of Johnstown PA.

They had at least 6 children, one being Matthew Jr. KRABAL whom had a son named William Joseph KRABAL. Wm ended up in Baltimore, Maryland where he worked for a railroad co. and married George's mother Ellen STINSON.

Other siblings of Wm Joseph KRABAL migrated around the country. One group is in NY, a sister whom m. a GOLDFARF. Another migrated up to WI, ILL, CA and FL.

Would love to chat with anyone who feels their KRABAL line were Slovenia.

Hi Chrystie,

My name is April Fox and I recently married Shane Krabal, son of Brian Krabal out of Baltimore. I believe that George was his brother. I’ve been trying to do a little research on his family and most of what I find is posted by you. So I thought I would just write and ask if you would mind sharing with us what you have found out. It’s a very unique name and is hard to trace. I know it’s the holiday season and I don’t expect a hurried reply, I just thought I would drop you a line and introduce myself. I hope you have a Merry Christmas! I look forward to talking with you!

Sincerely,
April M Krabal
