Krabbenhoft in MN/Revensdorf, Germany
Hello - I'm looking for information surrounding Wulf Frederick Krabbenhoft who was married to Katharina Jess. They immigrated from Revensdorf, Schleswig-Holstein in the late 1880's. Wulf's father's name was said to be Wulf also, with his grandfather being Balthasar. Wulf Frederick was born in 1816 and died in 1895 in Sabin, Clay County, Minnesota. His daughter, Katharina Elizabeth married Chris Poehls in Iowa and lived in Davenport, Scott County for several years. I would like to make the connection back to Balthasar in Revensdorf.

My wife and I recently moved into the home where Wulf lived in Sabin. Beautiful home...on the minnesota historical registry. Last week I spoke with a Raymond Krabbenhoft who is full of names, dates and ancestrial history. I don't know his phone number...but he does live in Sabin, MN.

Wow - I wasn't aware that Wulf's house was still around in Sabin! I will have to look up Raymond Krabbenhoft, as I am extremely interested in the Krabbenhoft family. I have an aunt, Mae Poehls, who lives near Sabin on a farm. Her husband was Argain Poehls (he passed away several years ago) - whose grandmother was Katherine Elizabeth Krabbenhoft. I also have other Poehls relatives that are still living near Sabin also.

Re: Krabbenhoft in MN/Revensdorf, Germany
I entered a search for "Revensdorf Germany" to verify the spelling and was quite surprised to make a connection with messages about the Krabbenhofts in Minnesota. My grandmother was a Krabbenhoft and I am piecing together some bits of information handed down to me.

Hi! What is your grandmother's name? My great, great grandmother was Catherine Elizabeth Krabbenhoft - married to Christian H. Poehls. They lived in Davenport Iowa from 1869 until the early 1880's - then moved to Sabin Minnesota. I'm sure that we are related!

Re: Krabbenhoft in MN/Revensdorf, Germany
My grandmother's name was Otilie Krabbenhoft, daughter of Johann Jurgen. I have looked at the info which I have and am unable to place your great great grandmother. The German family history is riddled with Catharinas and Baltazars. There are several entries which merely state "daughter" so perhaps she fits into one of those. Could you please advise the name of HER parents and/or brothers and sisters? Perhaps then I can connect her properly. I am familiar with the name POEHLS as well as one of my uncles married a Theresa Poehls from Sabin.

Re: Krabbenhoft in MN/Revensdorf, Germany
Hi! Catherina's parents names were Wulf Christopher Fredrick Krabbenhoft (b. March 28, 1816, d. August 23, 1895) and Katherina Jess (b. March 30, 1822, d. April 21, 1902). I have been looking for the connection too - but haven't found it yet. Wulf had a brother Heinrich, who's children immigrated to Minnesota also. It could be that this is where the connection is.

I may have some information useful to you. Please write back and let me know what specifically you are looking for. I would also appreciate knowing a bit more about you--where you live, what the chain of ancestry is from your great great grandmother to yourself. A cousin of my mother's, now deceased, did some research years ago and I have pieces of his work. Perhaps you could write to me directly at my e-mail address rather than having a lot of information posted on the board.
