Hello, I am looking for the family of Marion TERRY KRAATZ. I understand her brother was Fred TERRY. I have been told he married my great aunt. When my great aunt died of cancer, Fred committed suicide. I've not been able to find any information (no marriage or death, but a possible time could be c1910) on my aunt or Fred at all. I was hoping to 'bark up another tree' so to speak and see if I can get anywhere that way.
Thank you for any help you might be able to offer.

Hi Chris,

I did reply to your message but it came back to me so I sent it again and it didn't return. I thought you must have received it...sorry about that.

Here's some of what I wrote to you in the other email:

Here's what information I have, shared by a cousin who 'remembers' that when he was about 4 years old (c1932),an uncle Fred killed himself because his wife died.

Here's what I can piece together, IF the story is true: my great grandmother's sister, Ada FROBISHER BARNES (who would have been Fred's wife), was born in 1876 in Michigan.
She married an Edgar COWLES in 1900 in MI and they eventually moved to OH (1900 census).

Then Ada disappears. No census. No remarriage. No cemetery records. No death. No...nothing.
Edgar remarried and had a child. I can find him just fine...but he's not mine! (figures!)

Meanwhile, I have this cousin (who is in his 80s) who says Ada was called Dee Dee and that she died of cancer, but he doesn't know when. He only remembers being told that Ada's husband killed himself because she died.

Unfortunately, this is all I have to go on. There are no other family members alive today who would recall something like this. I've not been able to find news items, or death records to verify any of it. I'm basically just hoping someone happens upon my post and miraculously is related! Stranger things have happened...but I won't hold my breath!

So, there's the story I have. Why on earth did your Fred slice his throat in a tavern, of all places!
Thank you for contacting me! I truly apprecaite that you took the time to help.
*********************

So, as you can see, I don't have much to go on. I am looking for my great aunt, Ada FROBISHER COWLES possible second marriage Fred TERRY. As I understand it, Fred had a sister who married a KRAATZ, so my aunt would have only been an 'in law' if they even knew each other...however...I suppose there could have been some sort of a 'tangled web' woven between .... oh good grief! I watch too much TV!!!

Thank you again for contacting me (again and again!). I do appreciate any help I might be able to get concerning my aunt.

sorry,
a lot of the facts we have are different but it is too similar for this not to be the same person. The Fred Kraatz in my family lived in Sheboygan, Wi. and then in Milwaukee, Wi. I have some records that call him Carl Charles Kraatz who killed himself on may 18, 1913 in Milwaukee and his body was shipped by train to Sheboygan to a brother named Fred. He had 5 children. Friedrich, charles Jr., Otto, Louis, Henry. If your family mamber killed himself by cutting his throat in a tavern around this time and it was in Milwaukee even though a lot of facts differ it just seems to be too odd that this would not be the same person. email sanyork@earthlink.net
please contact me this way as then I won't miss it.

Hello. I read your posting from 2005. My grandfather, Herbert Kraatz was married to Marion Terry Kraatz in Detroit, Michigan. I did not know any of her siblings. Marion died in approximately 1972 in Detroit. I am sorry I cannot be of more help.

I also have a Marion Kraatz of Detroit, MI in my family. She would be my mother's cousin. Perhaps the same?

That's quite alright! Any little hints along the way are more help than none at all! I appreciate (albeit, I'm a bit late expressing it) your post!
Thanks so much!

Hi Lucian,
I really have no idea...so I can't be certain. I really don't know anything about Marion at all, other than what my 80 year old cousin (who has since passed away) told me 5 years ago. I do however, now have a photo of Fred TERRY. If your mom has photos of him...then we will at least have that part of the mystery solved! I'll post the photo for you to show her.
And thanks so much for your reply!

Well, shoot, my computer is not allowing me to post the photo right now. I'll try later.

The photo I have posted below is of Fred TERRY. I have no other info on him other than what I have posted (well, except now I know he's actually REAL!).

It was told to me that he had a sister, Marion TERRY who married a KRAATZ.

If this man looks familiar to anyone, I would love to hear from you!
Thanks so much!
