Hi Gayel and Connie, Glen here. I found a great site for Dutch records and have been finding a lot on all of the clan. Go to www.genlias.nl and select english at the top. Then select "search genlias". On the next page put in the name you want and in the lower window select Freisland. Our ancestors are from Westdongeradeel and Ferwerderadeel. I've probably picked up 30 or 40 people now. Let me know how you like it. Glen

Hi, Glen.

Yes, I've used genlias --it's really handy for those times when I want to "fill in" a bit of something. Most of my Dutch research was done before the internet, so I'm also comfortable (or at least was) using the films you can order through Salt Lake. These include the Bevolkingsregisters (kind of like a census), as well as civil registration.

There is another site for Groningen, Alle Groningers, that had some slightly different information. Maybe other provinces have separate sites, as well.

Cheers, and thanks,
Gayel

I am a descendent of John Flym/Antje Kingma Flym Pheifer. I too have my tree on Rootweb. You can view it at

Hi, Connie,

Just had a look at what you have on World Connect, and also at my stuff -- very good reminder that I need to update mine!

One thing, we both have Clarence Phiefer's marriage wrong (you can find the actual certificate on the Washington State Digital Archives).

You will also find Leonard Phiefer's first marriage there. There must have been a divorce, because his second marriage occurred before his first wife died, but so far I haven't looked for it.

One of the "puzzles" that I haven't really tackled yet is the marriage of Carlton Knott and Alice Phiefer.

I do appreciate the additional information on the Flym family -- I've always sort of wondered about them.

I assume you have read the Illustrated History of Kandiyohi County (LDS Film #1000259)? I think there was a bit about the Flyms in that.

Gayel

Oops -- no divorce for Leonard. His first wife died in 1941.
