I hope this is the right janet I think you have the wrong Robert Hubberstey in your tree. Robert Hubberstey b 1889 d 1965 Carlisle is my Grandfather and married Margaret Waterhouse b 1890.
I am not sure yet who his brother James married.
Roberts parents where indeed James and Sarah
I have quite a few documents etc from here, so may be able to help you trace the right Robert

I will contact my Uncle who has this tree. IT is possible that this is a differrent one OUrs is From CHORLEY not Carlisle
Will let you know.

Sorry, i didn't make that very clear, he was born in Chorley and died in Carlisle.
There are many Hubberstey families who have the same names, so its easy to get them crossed over. If you see the "Hubberstey" message boards this was a case in point over this last weekend.

That was going to be a point I was just going to state. Ive ran across this many time son my English Side. Same names for kids and parents but totally different people. According to my uncle and Im waiting on an answer from my cousin. She went to england and physically talked to Edith and I would think a person would know their husband. and of course there not being census after 1901 and all that it is hard to verify, But Im still waiting on her response.

I emailed my cousin who went over there and this was her reply on this matter.
"Yes, I stayed with Edith and Bob. The names are correct. They had a son Robert (age around 60 something) who was married to a woman named Barbara. Bob and Barbara had a son whom I think was adopted and his name was Robert. Margaret Waterhouse could be the wife of young Robert who could be in his 40's I would guess. Who is the man that gave you the info? Let me know what comes of this question."
Relooking at their ages. This would be your great Grandparents. I would think

No unfortunately not.
I have started to build my family tree, you should be able to see in on the World tree. There are however a few Sarah Bs so i am sure you will find the right link.
I have a few issues myself with Sarah Booth as I can't find all the peices in the Jigsaw, but from 1891, the lineage is definitive. James Hubberstey, married Sarah Booth Woods, they had 6 Children , one of which is Robert, who only married once and one had one son. James his brother married Amie Thurgood and had one daughter who married in 1946 and emigrated to Austalia in 1957
I think Johns previous message on the Hubberstey threads are the link in your family perhaps.

Question. You mentioned Johns Post? what post is this This is the Krger board. Is this on the Hubberstey board?
|
Hi In the Hubberstey threads. I am not sure if this will help you or not.
With regard to Robert, he was my grandfather, so likewise, i know my family.
My grandfather Robert did not have two wives and did not die in Preston. Robert fought in WW1 and was in the army for many years before that, some time was spent in possibly in India. He saw active serivce on the Somme and at Ypres. We have a few photographs of him in France at the time. We also have his wedding photographs taken at Blackpool, Lancashire, outside their house.
I know his fathers children and wife are correct, but what I am not 100% about is who James family was. There was a master tanner in our family as we have a wallet that was a trade sample bearing his name.
I am requesting birth certificates for James at the moment and they will take a few weeks to come through.
What might be very interesting for us both is if any of your family know anything about James' wife S B? I know quite a bit, but it may help qualify.
I will do a few searches on other James and SBs to see how many more there are. I know there are many.
