Does anyone have Kozaks from Galicia?
My grandfather Peter Kozak was born 19 Aug 1886 in Zablotow in an area known as Galicia or "The Kingdom of Galicia & Lodomera". From 1795 through 1918 Galicia was part of the Austrian-Hungary Empire. Today Zablotow is known as Zabolotov or sometimes Zabolotiv and is in the Ukraine.
He settled in Manitoba, Canada, married a lady called Warwara or as we knew her Barbara m.s. Osadchuk. Grandmother's family immigrated to Canada from Galicia on January 24, 1902.
Is anyone else researching the surname of Kozak?

Re: Does anyone have Kozaks from Galicia?
My great grandfather was from Galacia. He had a trend of naming his children after siblings. He had 2 brothers I am sure of Wladyslaw and Stanislaw.. both of which became 2 of his son's names. I also found a Jozef and Jan (John) that lived in the town where they came from, Kamionka.. and that also so happens to be 2 of his other son's names. Fabian also had a daughter Katherine. Just out of curiosity, do you know what town your great grandmother came from?

Re: Does anyone have Kozaks from Galicia?
Hello
Came across your message and wanted to share my family line that came from Galicia. Not sure if this will be helpful to you but my Grandfather was Alexander Kozak who was born in Bendowka, Austria and his last place of residence was Zascinocze, Glaicia. He was born 4/15/1885 and later immigrated in 1914 to Yuma, Colorado. Apparently he had a brother named Simon. My grandmother was Michilina Tchorzecka was from Zascianocze (Za Scinocze) Dis. of Trembowla (Trembola) Galicia. Born around 1884. They had four children, Olga, Marion, Marie and Frank.
Hope this helps, if there is any connection please let me know.

Re: Does anyone have Kozaks from Galicia?
My grandfather Jacob Kozak immigrated to the United States from Galicia in the early 1900's. I do not know the dates, but my mother was born here in 1920. When he came to the US, my grandfather changed his last name to Koza.
