I am at present searching the Yarcosky line. My grand father is Andrew Furchak, and his father married a Yarcosky in the town of Strabane, Pa. a small community by Canonsburg Which is 15 Miles south of Pittsburgh. My mother married a Ferko. In looking at some of the gravestones in St Patrick,s cemetery in Canonsburg, there are a lot of Yarkoskys, One of them is a family site that Has John and Anna Yarkosky and sons Mike and Andro "Jarkovsky", Who was the first to die This leads me to believe that this was their name when they came over from Slovakia in the late 1800's. If you have any reason to believe this is a part of the family, let me know. My e-mail address is jjferko@ghplus.infi.net

I am interested in the Kozak in West Virginia your Anna is associated with. I am researching my grandfather's family..Steve Kozak s/o Peter Kozak and Netal Nemtro. They resided at Ward, West Virginia from 1908 until present. What is your Anna's Kozak connection in West Virginia.
E-Mail me direct at LisaShindl@aol.com

My Wife (Lori Lee Jurgovsky Johnston) has great grandparents: John Jurgovsky & Mary Ferko. John Jurgovsky descended from a Jurgovsky/Vodzak union(if I recall might be Jan/Katarina).
My Wife's parents live in Irwin/North Hundington, PA.

This is my daughter's Pedigree as we understand it so far.

Sorry I haven't been back to see this post for a while. Yes we should talk. I can trace your Katarina Vodzak Jurgovsky connection back several generations from actual church records found during two trips to ancestral villages. Please email me at tlmkam@isrv.com to share information. Sincerely Karen Melis. PS yes these are my earlier posts on the iarelative site.

Anna Jurgovsky intially married Frank Kolinosky in Weirton, WV. Surviving children included John and Mary both now deceased. Her second marriage was to Paul Kozak. They had two children only one of which lived to adulthood - Paul S. Kozak. He died in Dec. 1999 and was my father. I would be interested in knowing more about the Jurgovsky line as well as the Vodzak line both of which appear to go back to Frydman, Poland (formerly Slovakia). Katerina Jurgovsky (nee' Vodzak) was the mother of Anna Jurgovsky.

I know I am really late to this discussion, but in case you are still looking for info on the Strabane Yarkoskys, let me know. My grandfather is a Yarkosky from Strabane and I have done a lot of research on the family and have most of the info since they came to America.

The grave you saw is John and Anna's son, but his obit has him as "Andrew Yarkosky."

John, I have posted on this board some time ago. I was the woman who did the research for the Jurgovsky/Vodzak link from Frydman. I am currently running an academic DNA project with FamilyTreeDNA as an extension of my Fulbright study on migration. The project is run with FamilyTreeDNA.com You can find more about it at www.familytreedna.com or googling the Zamagurie Region Dual Geographic DNA project. All of our members have KNOWN ancestry from the geographic region in order for the statistics to be valid. Any interest in participating? Karen Melis (gd Michal Vodzak (from Frydman)
