My married name is Kovac and my husband's family is Slovak. On occasion when we give the name Kovac people insist it is Hungarian. My husband's family belonged to a Slovak Lutheran Church. My father in law did have a cousin Steve. What state are you located in. I am in New Jersey

I am seeking a family history of my grandmother's Austrian roots. The name is spelled "Kovatch" now, but in Austria it's "Kovac" with a check over the "c". My great-grandparents immigrated here to Central Illinois when they were young and were married here. Any help would be appreciated!!!

I too would like to know the Family Crest, but more importantly, I would love to find someone related to my Great-grandpa--Egnatius Valentine KOVAC, son of Anton and Maria (Lazar) Kovac. He md Ursala Gertrude YAMNAK, dau/of Martin and Marija (Erjavec) YAMNIK in Austria. He was a gardner to Franz Joseph and she was the governess at the castle. They immigrated to PA about 1889. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any specific information on your Kovac ancestors? It is very likely that they came from Slovenia, formerly part of Austria-Hungary. If you need info, contact me at my Email.

Family coats of arms were only for nobility. Your Kovac and Jamnik ancestors probably came from Slovenia. If you wish, you can contact me at: BMLroots@yahoo.ca

I have the name of my great-great grandparents and the place of my great grandfather's birth is just listed as Austria in 1866. He came to the U.S. in 1891. My great grandmother's birth place was Libulina, Austria in 1884. Maiden name Petric (changed the spelling to Petrich). She came to U.S. in 1904. I have no idea where they left Austria from or a name of a ship or port of entry. This has become a tricky task.

I am located in Central Illinois. Both of my great grandparents immigrated here from Austria. I have no city/town for my g. grandfather's place of birth but my g. grandmother was born in Libulina, Austria. In 1939 my g. grandfather had 2 sisters left in Austria and 1 brother in Owen, Wisconsin. Let me know if any of this info ties in with any info you happen to have. Thanks.

I am from Scranton , PA where I was born and raised. My grandparents came from Austria-Hungary. There orig.name and what is on the headstone is Kovacs. My aunt changed the spelling to Kovack, in a way I feel like I was cheated by the name change but that is the way they did things. My grandmother was Anna Rusnak and my grandfather was John Kovacs. They are both burried in Minooka,Pa in the Greek cemetery. My Dad was Edward J.Kovack and he had a brother Mike in Rodchester, NY. He had allot of sisters,Mary,Marie who was also called Mary, Valeska, Julia, Anna, Bernice And Kitty(Katherine). They all lived in Pine Brook section of Scranton, PA. Anyone recognize this ? email me.
