The Kouf family that is in the United States all came from the first person by that name here in Pennsylvania.
That person was here as early as 1839, maybe earlier.
The name is not russian, korean, greek, arabic, hebrew, chinese, italian, irish, or scot. There are some that contend hard because of the red hair. Oh my! Though the island has the higher percentage of the red-hair gene, where did the red-headed islanders come from? Dah.
Das right!
The first "Kouf" in America came from a french/german area in Europe. (documented from research).
The name is rare. I have not found a Kouf in the U.S. that is not connected (except for the one on tv)!
Hopefully we will have another national reunion some day. Hope to see you all there.
Blessings,
BHI
