Curt Jensen - What was your Grandmothers
first name? You mentioned she went through
Chicago to get to Nebraska - where was
she coming from? I have never met anyone
else who is familiar with the last name
of Kotas. Please contact me.

My family originated in this country with Jan Kotas, one of three brothers to come to Chicago. I believe two of the brothers came to settle close to what is now Milligan Nebraska. This took place in the 1870's I believe.

My grandmother's name was Lillian Emma Kotas, her father's name was Fred E. Kotas and his father's name was Joseph Kottas.

I am going to get into contact with a lady near Exeter Nebraska that was writing up a family history on the Kotas' over twenty years ago.

Don,

My Grandfather Kotas had a brother named
Rudolph. His name was Karel but changed
it to Charles. He and his family settled
in Fairhope, AL when they came over from
Moldavia. After a hurricane destroyed their peanut farm they went to IL.Grandfather then married Mary Danek and bought a farm in Racine County. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Please let me know.

Thank you. Leslie

Leslie:

The only part that sounds familiar is the
Racine, Wisconsin. My grandfather's
brother's name I'm pretty sure was Karl.
My mother called him Uncle Karl. This sure
sounds interesting, but they must not be the
same. Karl and Rudolph also had at least one
sister in Dallas. I believe her name was
Mary.
