My great uncle Szilvester Kosa came to the US on 21 May 1906. His wife Anna (23 years old) and daughter Anna 1yr old and son Szilvester 4 months old came later on 11 September 1906. Accompanying them were her sister Emilia and brother-in-law Gyorgy Szucs. All settled in New York or New Jersey (cannot read manuscript). I have no maiden name for the women. All came from Szentes, Hungary. Does anyone know of this family?

Szilvester was most likely born in Papoc, Vas, Hungary, and he had two brothers, Bonifacz (who lived in Cleveland, Ohio) and Gergely (who remained in Hungary at Vag, Sorpon). I am very interested in the children and whether or not there are descendants in the U.S.

Hello,
I am very interest in your message. It looks like the women Anna and her daughter Anna and son Sylvester are the same people that I know are my G. Grandmother, and grandmother and great uncle. The notes on the log at the Ellis Island site are from when Anna and her brother applied for ss card. But my great grandfathers name was Frank Sylvester Kosa other wise everything else matches. And yes there is a very large family. As a matter of fact we just had our family reunion August 18, 2001. Please contact me.
Thank You,
Mary Bliss

Mary, We need to determine is Szilvester was born in either Papoc or Vag and whether he had a brother named Bonifacz. Then we will know if we are of the same Kosa family. Lis

Hello,
I am trying to find some information about a Gyorgy Szucs who is listed as the informant on the death certificate of my grandfather, John Sych. I suspect that the Hungarian spelling of my grandfather's name is Szucs, and that Gyorgy might have been his brother. My grandfather died in Cleveland, on Octover 29, 1940. I realize this is not directly pertinent to what you are looking into, but is it possible that this is the the same Gyorgy Szucs? Thanks,
Joe Sych
