I am trying to search for where my family came from, how my family name was originally spell because I believe it was Americanized, and how far back my family goes and in what country?

I've just been in contact with a fellow in Poland, which is at least one place the name originated. The original spelling was Koralewski. As far as I can discover, either my grandfather or great-grandfather emigrated to this country with that name, later shortening it to Koral. If you have any additional info it would be nice to hear from you.

My maiden name was Koral and my father came from the Krakow area of Poland. He came to England as a refugee during the second world war.

I hope this may be of some help to you.

Hi,

My grandfather's last name was Koral. His family originally came from Krakow, Poland, but moved to Antwerp, Belgium. My grandfather, came to the US in the early 1920's and his name was cahnged to Korall, my maiden name. I would love to learn more info about my lineage. If you have more info, please respond. My grandfather's name was Maks Koral. Thanks.

My dad's name was Wladyslaw Koral born in about 1925. He came from Limanowa nr Krakow. He was 17 when he came to England after travelling through much of Europe. I know he had a sister Maria and a brother, but he didn't talk about the past. His parents died about 1952.

Hi-
Did any of your father's relatives come to the US? Most of my grandfather's family remained in Europe (Belgium). My grandfather and two cousins were the only ones that came to the US around 1923 and stayed. Interestingly, his name was changed from Koral to Korall. SoI'm not quite sure if my extended family is Koral or Korall. Do you know if your father's name was changed at any point?

As far as I'm aware my dad had friends went to America but not as far as I know any relatives. Whether he had cousins or not I don't know as he wouldn't talk about the past.

I've never come across anyone with the same surname as us before.

There are a lot of Koral's in the Boston area and, I believe, Koraleski's in the Chicago area. I do not know if my father's parents were born here, but I believe so. Marie (Koral)McCaw, who lived in Cave Creek, AZ., may have been born in the Chicago area. Her brother was my father's father. Therefore, it may have been my great-grandparents who emigrated here, but from where I do not know.
