I have a wedding picture of Paul A. Korab and Mary Dobrovsky. My g-g-granparents. they were married near Iowa City, IA. I have a biography written by Josephine Korab (Zika)(Paul's daughter in-law and my great grandmother) that says she was born in Czechlosovakia. I would like any further info on this line that could help with my search.
Thank you.

After the fall of dual monarchy, Austria-Hungary several new countries were formed and one was Czechoslovakia which in 1993 separated into Czech Republic and Slovak Republic.
Do hope you posted on either of the boards.

Did your ancestor considered themselves to be Bohemian? Did they speak that language? If yes, than your research will take you to Czech Republic and not Austria.
You need to locate a name of a town for your ancestor in order to proceed with the research.

The surname ZIKA lists in city of Praha's phone book.
Some Zikas listing in SK but not as much as in city of Praha, Czech Republic.

Paul, there were varied spellings on my last name when my grandfather immigrated from russia in 1911. he had 7 brothers and 4 sisters; one brother which he ran in to by chance in the 1920's. My grandfather's original marriage license spelled his name Korob. I was wondering if there was any family resemblance between your gg grandfather and my grandfather, who was born in approx 1885. Could you possibly send me a copy of the picture? There are numerous Korab, Korob, Corob all over the country. thanks -lcauthor@hotmail.com - Larry

Stacey, hi - could you possibly send me the picture of Paul Korab? I am researching my ancestry and my grandfather, who immigrated from Russia in 1911, has his name spelled numerous ways in early documents. I was just curious if there could be any resemblances. my grandfather came from a large family, but we only know one brother's name and that was Frank. - thanks larry corob LCAUTHOR@HOTMAIL.COM
