June L. Koppenhaver, 85, of Pine Grove, passed away Thursday at Schuylkill Medical Center East Norwegian Street.
Born in Pine Grove Township, June 18, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Elmer M. Sr. and Annie S. Witmer Strausser.
June worked as a machine operator for the former Canoe Manufacturing, Pine Grove, and also worked at the J&K grocery store in Ravine.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Ravine, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also the last living member of the community club that built the Veterans Memorial in Ravine, and a she was a former member of Ravine Fire Company Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Koppenhaver, on Jan. 19, 1988; five sisters, Violet Jones, Pearl Boyer, Arlene Cirullo, Clara Haas and Betty Strausser; three brothers, William Strausser, Elmer M. Strausser Jr. and Harrison Strausser.
Surviving are a son, Dale and his wife, Beverly Koppenhaver, and a daughter, Trudy and her husband, George Shiffer, all of Pine Grove; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Hilda Schneck, Media.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with Craig Kramer officiating. There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to St. Paul's UCC Memorial Fund, c/o Helen Schaeffer, 356 Suedberg Road, Pine Grove, PA 17963, in her memory.
