I have not had internet access over several days, but am researching once more. Thank you for the information below.
All I know is my great grandmother, Anna Lazarz, was born in 1848 and died in 1926. Her father Walenty (Walentego) and mother Katarzyna Szczepanik must have been born circa 1825.
As far as the name Kowal, that is harder. My great grandfather Jan Kowal was born 1843 and died 1927. His father Lukasz and his mother (listed as) Petronela Kowal were probably born circa 1820.
It is an interesting journey looking for these records.....I wish I could read Polish - it would be so much easier. Thank you for your efforts.......how very kind of you......

Not true! The name occurs frequently among Hungarians as well. Do not directly relevant, but similar to the word "kopasz" which means hairless.
