I just ran across this web site in the process of looking up Kooi family relationships to explain to my grandson, Patrick Kooi Crabaugh. My name is Peter Kooi Simpson. My grandfather was Peter Kooi from Chicago, an orphan who, with his brother, Remco, and his sister, Ann, was sent to live with relatives. Peter lived until age 12 with an Uncle Abingue in Chicago. He worked his way up in a railroad ticket office and later bought a coal mine near Sheridan, WY and started a mining town named Kooi (no longer there). His brother, Remco, went to Iowa and was a successful farmer and patriarch of the Kooi clan in what I understand was western Iowa. I was intrigued by your link to Kooi's from Chicago and would enjoy hearing from anyone who has some knowledge of or has heard of any of the members I've mentioned. Peter Kooi Simpson
