Hello, My name is Stefanie Peluso. My Great-Great Grandmother was Bertha Veltman Kooi. They were from Michigan. I know that she gave up my Great Grandmother Angie Kooi to an orhpanage. My Grandma Angie was Hollander. They may possibly be related to your Kooi. If you have any info, Please contact me.

Thanks,
Stefanie

Dear One,
I am sorry I do not believe that she is in my family tree. My Grand Mother Antonia Marie Beneveld and Grandpa Marten Andrew Kooi were from Netherlands and my Father Andrew their first born in this country.

Dear Sam,

My Grandma Angie was born in or near Muskegon which is 40 miles from Grand Rapids. So I think it is a possibility that we have a connection. Angie had 3 sisters named Helena, Cornelia, Eleanor and possibly a sister named Pearl. They were put in an orphanage around 1920 or so and Eleanor was the only one adopted. I believe that Bertha, Angie's mother remarried a man named Martin Adam Toot. And they had children.
We could be on to something. Let me know what you think.

Dear Stef,
My Grandparents came to the USA in 1929. My Granfather's sister's name was Francina and none of My grandmother's family ever came to the US.

Dear Sam,

Well I just found out last night that my Kooi family was from Friesland in the Netherlands but they came over before the turn of the century. They may be from the same family in the Netherlands. I am going to continue looking into it and I will let you know if I come up with anything else.

Oh by the way the original spelling of Kooi was Vanderkooi. But you probably already knew that.
Thank you for writing back.

Best Regards,
Stefanie
