I am glad to know that the references to FHL film numbers were useful. Those just learning about Krasny Brod might want to review the history and geography of this region. Between 1867-1918, Krasny Brod was part of the Austria-Hungarian empire. After WW1 in 1918, Krasny Brod became part of Czechloslovakia. Since 1993, Krasny Brod has been part of the Slovak Republic. This beautiful little village lies in the Subcarpathian region in the NE corner of the Slovak Republic, not far south of the border with Poland. Ethnically, the majority of the people in Krasny Brod are Carpatho-Ruthenian, also know as Rusyns. The most distinguishing characteristic of these people is their Greek-Catholic faith, not to be confused with Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, or Russian Orthodox. Large numbers of Rusyns immigrated to the United States near the turn of the 20th Century for work in the steel and coal industries near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Another contingent went to Minnesota for similar work.

An excellent overview on the Carpatho-Ruthenians can be found at http://www.everyculture.com/multi/Bu-Dr/Carpatho-Rusyn-Ameri...
