Ann Irene Kojundic, 98, a lifetime resident of Clairton, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011, at Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth Assisted Living, where she resided. Born Oct. 2, 1912, in Blair, Pa. (now part of Clairton), she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mara (Mamula) Matich. She joins her husband, Anthony L. Kojundic, who passed away Nov. 28, 2002. They were married for 66 years. A member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton and a 1931 graduate of Clairton High School, Ann was also active in the Clairton Senior Citizens Association and a lifetime member of the Clairton Area Chapter 1612 of the AARP. She and Anthony enjoyed their many trips with both groups as well as their weekly bowling teams. Ann loved to crochet and every addition to the family received a hand crocheted blanket from her. Ann was also a lifetime member of the SNPJ. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who showed her love for all with cooking and baking, especially at the holidays. Ann is survived by her sons, Michael A. Kojundic, of Tulsa, Okla., and Anthony N. Kojundic, of Coraopolis; her daughters, Myra K. Eastwood, of Emmaus, and Carolyn M. Poole, of Quakertown; her eight grandchildren; her 16 great-grandchildren; and also nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, Nick and Lottie; and her sisters, Louise, Caroline, Sofie and Helen. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of a blessing service at 1 p.m. Saturday in the A.J. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, 555 Fifth St., Clairton, 412-233-5700, with Father R. Donald Jones officiating. Burial will take place immediately afterwards, privately, in Jefferson Memorial Park in Pleasant Hills. Ann's family asks that memorial donations in her name, in lieu of flowers, be made to the Light of Life Rescue Mission, 10 East North Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
