I am looking for a needle in a haystack, I think. I have just learned by g-g-grandfather is Johann Michael KOhler. Here is what I have learned.
Johann Michael Kohler (1812 – 1884)
Professor: The Polytechnikum, the predecessor of ETH Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland. Appointed in 1854 to the Botany and Horticulture department.
Born: Thalheim near Tuttlingen which today is in Germany. In 1812 it was part of the Kingdom of Wuerttemberg.
Residence: Kusnacht (Zurich). Because that is also listed as his “orgin” (which is how Swiss law traces citizenship) later in his life, it probably means that he was born a citizen of Wuerttemberg but gained Swiss citizenship later in his life.
He married twice ... Elizabeth Irminger of Kusnacht and then another woman, whose name I don't have.
Does this fit with anything or anyone or does anyone have suggestions of how to follow this lead.
