Mary....I don't have any idea if this will help or not, for I have just started research of my own....My great-great grandfather came to philadelphia with his wife around the time period of 1911. Our last name was spelled Kochanski...but was americanized when they reached US soil. The only thing I can tell you so far is that half of my familys' name was changed to Kohansky, and some of the others to: Kohansky. I do know that there is no relation to Kaminski, unless by marriage, which I do not know any of. I hope this may have given you something in your search...and that it did not mess you up any either!!!!!!!!! :o)

Mary...I don't now if this will help you at all, or in the least confuse you...I do not have much information regarded my family for I have just started my search as well....My great-great grandfather came to america on a boat around the time of 1911. His last name, as well as his descendants, on their birth certificates was Kochanski. When they reached US soil...their last name was americanized to Kohansky. I do know that half of my family from that point on chose Kohanski as well as with a y. I don't know if this will help you any....I also know that there is no immediate relationship to Kaminski...unless by marriage....none of which I am aware of at this point.....

The only information I have is from an obituary notice, so I'm assuming the (unknow female) Kaminski married a (unknow) Kohansky. Mrs. Kohansky was still alive in 1934, somewhere in the general area of Chicago. If you come across any information in you Kohansky (or any spelling) search, sent me a note when you get time.

My great grandfather is Frank Kaminski, I'm working from a obituary notice from Dubois, Pa. All I know is that Frank came to the US prior to 1886. The obituary shows sisters as Mrs. Mary Prontock of Dubois, PA: Mrs Koslowski of Chicago, Ill: and Mrs. Malinowski, Mrs. Kohanski and Mrs Betlejewski all of Detroit. I'm at a dead end and have no clue other than what is in the obituary,
Hoping one of the surnames were recongized as having married a Kaminski.

I've come across some additonal info..Marcel Kohanski/Kochanski/Kochauska married a "unknow" Kaminski..they had the following children: Cecelia "born 1892" married a Kirshart, Lottie married a Domatonski, Jeanie married a O'Donnell, Helen married a Nowatski, Stella married a Johnson, Mary married a ?, Leona married ?, Olga married ?, and sons Joseph and Marcel. The birth's would be late 1800's or early 1900's. Ceceila's obituary notice listed address in PA and MI as of 1979. One of the children may be a nun or priest. The "unknow" Kaminski would be my great great grandfather Frank/Franc's sister. If there are any relatives out there, they can write to me here or at mmaholtz@aol.com.

I've have a little more information, looking for a Marcel Kohansky that married Sophia Kaminski. They had 10 children. I can place a daughter,Ceceila as born in 1892. I would have to check my papers but I think I got this information along with the other children from Ceceila's obituary. I'm related thru the Kaminski side of the family. Would gladly exchange info with you if you think your family ties in. You can contact me via ancestry board or thru email address.

Thanks for your reply. I would really like to exchange information. Do you have, in your papers, a relation to John Kohanski? I do not know if/when his name was changed. I believe when they came over they were "sky" and chented it to "ski"
Let me know. I'd love to start the researching!
