Looking for information on my ggrandfather,
Joseph Kocar who was born in Pilsen, Bohemia
what is now the Czech Rep. He was born on
March 19, 1845. He married Bertha Jary(b.
November 18, 1859 in Cestic Volen, Bohemia
(just south of Prague). They came to
Taylor Co., Wisconsin in 1892/93. It is
believed that Joseph came to America with
his brother but they had a quarrel and
never spoke to each other again. Joesph
and Bertha had the follow children:
Bertha, Anna, Frank, Joseph, Jerry (Jaros?)
Mary, Louis, Josephine, Emil and Charles.

They all later move to Hingham MT.

Thanks in advance for any information.

I just recently started to trace my grandfathers family. What I have is my great, great grandfather Joesph and his wife Mary had 9 children,Frank, August(Gustav)-this is my great grandfather.... Marie,Charles,Joesph,Edward, George,Elise, and Emil. My grandfather was also August(Gustav) and he has a brother Louie and a brother Charlie and a sister Tillie. I have no dates on Joesph but I have Mary born 1885 and died 1941...Not sure if we are related Mr. Hilson, but the names were similar. Thank you.Karen

Hi, I'm not sure how old this post is but I am looking into my ancestry for my ethnic class right now and Joseph-Kocar married Bertha Jary and Bertha is my great, great, grandpa's sister. I'm just now finding this out and I don't really know anything about them. I just have a paper with the lineages on it, I have more of Bertha's lineage than Joseph's.

Surnames: Kolar, Jaros
I am very interested in this thread. I'm a decedent of Charles Jaros who was related to Joseph KOLAR, not KOCAR, but I think they are the same. Check out my Patton, Jaros tree as it has some of the names mentioned above. I've been to Smolec a few times and know family there.

Sorry not a connection. We/I have Kocar's all the way back before 1728. I have copies of actual church entries.

See my family lines in rootsweb. See the database richie_rich and others.

Thanks for your interest.

I'm certain we are talking about the same Joseph Kocar. I am looking at a family history here and it says "Bertha Jary 1859-1939 married Joseph Kocar in Prague in 1800. They moved to the Town of Browning (Taylor County), then to Montana in Oct. 1930 and is buried in Hingham, MT. Bertha died at age 79". Joseph would have been my great great grandpa's brother in law.
