Hello. I would be deeply for greatful for any information or ideas (or suggestions for where I might look)on an ancestor of mine, Vasil Kocak/Kocaka. I believe he was from Slovakia and he immigrated to Monongahela, PA in the early 20th century. He worked in coal mines and had many children. His family had been nobility back in their home country. Any info on him or anyone who might be related to him would be so useful to me. Thank you.

From Adrian Kocak!

Hi... I was just checking my email on AOL and saw a listing for geneology and thought I would look it up since it has always been interesting to me to know about my heritage. Well... to my surprise, there was your email inquiring about my family!!! My grandfather was infact Basil Kocaka from Slovakia who did live in Monongahela, PA and died many years ago. My mother, Penny, who died in 1987, was his daughter. I keep in touch with most of my aunts and uncles, especially at Christmas and I have 2 aunts and 1 uncle living right here in Florida. If you would like to email me back, I would love to find out more about you and what you are interested in knowing. I do know a bit of history on my grandfather and would like to share that with you.

Thanks for your time.

I have just finished reading my email and saw on AOL a website for geneology and for the fun I looked up Kocaka. Your name came up with your email and another person's inqury did as well. I was so shocked that I was reading about someone who might actually know some more about my family history.

I am in Florida, and am the granddaughter of Basil Kocaka. He was from a village in Slovakia or Hungary. I am not very good on my international geography now days. Anyway... he was from the Himich family from a town that started with a B.(something like Borne or similar). He married my grandmother Mary Primich and moved to the USA. He had 2 brothers... one was sent to South America and the other to France. So... we have relatives in other areas of the world unknown to all of us. You may email me at Semifins@aol.com for any questions you may have. Perhaps you might also be able to help me in finding out more about my heritage.

Thanks for any help. Looking forward to your email. By the way.. I have a first cousin in San Diego from the Kocaka side of the family. One of Basil Kocaka's son's (my undcle) also lives in southern California.. his name is George Kocaka. Small world isn't it!!

Thanks!

Hello Vicki! What a pleasant surprise to get an e-mail this morning saying that someone had replied to my message. I am very thrilled. I think we are distant cousins--I am Basil Kocaka's great-great-granddaughter. His eldest daughter, Anne, is my great-grandmother. Do you know her? I am her daughter Lois' granddaughter. I am currently at college in Connecticut, about to receive my Bachelor's degree and head on to graduate school. I would love to speak with you sometime online (I notice you have an AOL address, as do I) to talk about our family's history and also just to meet you! You may e-mail me at Gracejoy7@aol.com.
Thank you for your reply, and I hope things are going very well for you.

Yours,
Leana

What a coincidence in names!

How odd. I read this correspondence from August. I have a young daughter, Adrianna Kocak. We live in NY state. Family history says our people are from the Bratislava area. There is wide debate as to the meaning of our name. Best wishes.

Paul:
I was wondering if you have a Helen, Mary, Margaret, or Michael Kocak in your line? I have a Veronica (Mudrick)Kocak married to an unknown Kocak and these were there children.

My grandmother was Mary Mihalik Kocak. As for Michael, she had a son named Michael (my uncle, and godfather [deceased]). It doesn't seem that this is the same lineage, but there's the info I have. Best wishes.
