Seeking descendants of Elias Knutsen Gaaseide b. 1836 from the Gaaseide (Gåseide) farm, More og Romsdal fylke, Norway. He was married to Severine Ottosdatter Vaksvik b. 1835. They had at least seven children: Jakobine, Marie, Olivia, Knud, Ole, Sevrin, and Per Karolus. Some descendants were known to have emigrated to Michigan and Washington state in the early 1900's. Please contact me if you have any connection to this farm.

Hi Wess. I assume you're looking for information on Knud Knudsen, son of Elias Knudsen. I don't have much:

Knud Martinus Karolus Eliassen, b. 1861 at Gaaseide, married 6/16/1886 to Nikoline Jensine Birgitte Petersdatter Vaagnes-Holen, b. 1862. At the time of his marriage, he was a farm user. I have a notation that he may have died c. 1829 in the U.S., but no information as to when he would have come to the United States. Do you have any other information about him or other members of his family? And, no, I'm sorry...I have no information on any Nordhagens.

Hi Jeanne. I have very little information, but I am researching my grandmother Helga
(Knudsen0 or (Nordhagen) Westlie. b. 1892
married Peter Westlie, at Lakota, ND on 20 Dec 1907. She Had 3 brothers that came to the US, John, Martin and Asbjorn. John and Martin changed their names to Crookstad. I believe, from what I can gather, Helga went by Nordhagen and later changed her name to Knudsen. I believe her fathers name was Knud Nordhagen, but not sure. Helga had a brother Ottar that stayed in Norway. He had a son Odd that lives on the farm that Helga was born on. Their last name is Nordhagen. Interesting huh. address is Braskereidfoss.
Thanks m uch for your time. You can E-mail me direct at ROCOR913@aol.com. Wess

I have an Andrew R., John Adolph/Adolf, Anna J. Larsdatter, 2 Clara's, etc. There are quite a few more.......

I am doing further research on Ivan (Even) Knutsen, having visited a probable site in Norway in 2001. I believe all roads lead to Kristiansund now, as I see that place mentioned elsewhere and I have a numbered family photo of a young woman that is identified to a photographer in that city. The photographer is still in business, but was not able to provide information since all their records were destroyed in the war.
