Josephine Elizabeth Knobel
This was my patrnal grandmother's maiden name. She was born in NY in the 1890s. She married my grandfather whose name was Henry Buschbaum but was changed to Jose Louis Rodriguez in the early 1900s, they moved to Los Angeles. Her parents were from Germany immigrating in the 1880s, 1890s. She also had relatives who died on a ship which sunk enroute to the US from Germany Any informationis appreciated.

I have found a Josephine Knobel among my brick a brack concerning my portion of the Knobel family. Do you know whether she had been married before or after your grandfather?

RE: Josephine L. KNOBEL (Rodriguez)
My Grandmother Josephine Knobel married Jose Luis Rodriguez in the early 1900s. Her parents immigrated from Germany but I'm sure she was born in New York City. My Grandfather was her only husband (she was very young when they married) and they moved to L.A. where they spent the rest of their lives except a short period in San Francisco.

Correction Josephine E. KNOBEL

I beleive we still may have the same Josephine. My records show her being born in America and moving to California.. but the name of her husband is different. Maybe the person I have as her husband is a brother.

Re: Josephine Elizabeth Knobel
Do you have any additional info on Henry Buschbaum? My great grandfather came from Germany in 1880's, 1890's. He had several brothers who came before him. They all came through NY and settled in various places. Gustav, August and Fred (gg) I am aware of. Otto is a son of either Gustav or August. But there were other brothers, many I'm told. Fred's mother's last name was Nacke and he married a Weis.

I am wondering if this is the same Josie Knobel or Noble that I am researching. Josie (Josephine?) is my ggrandmother who married George McDonald in the late 1800's in Pollard, Arkansas. Does that match your info?

Re: Josephine Elizabeth Knobel
Since that time, I have learned that Henry Buschbaum was actually namd Henrich Buchsbaum, he arrived at Ellis Island on the Le Bretagne from Le Havre on September 28, 1896. He was 16 and arrived alone or at least with no family members with the same name. His mother was named Sofie and she had three sisters here and one sister Louise married two brothers named Buchsbaum. Henrichhad been born in Austria and had 3 brothers and a sister.
