Re: Knobbe family from Mettigen, Westphalia, Germany
To the best of my knowledge the family if German. I know the area they came from in Germany is somewhat close to Denmark but I've never heard of them being from there.

Re: Knobbe, Knobe, Knoby of Germany, Holstein, MI, IA, NE, KS
My line of Knobe's of Detroit (1860's census as "Knoby"), IA & NE (1870's), and Phillips Co KS (till 1920's) believed from north Germany (East Holstein at Luebeck and Kiel - 1700-1800) part of which occupied by Denmark - therefore Danish records, possible ties to Westfalen rel's. US line was of immigrants Martin Knobe and son Ernst at Detroit, unk loc in IA, Barada NE, then Long Island KS leaving rel's in NE. Siblings and most children of Martin and son Ernst unknown to me. Any links appreciated.

Re: Knobbe, Knobe, Knoby of Germany, Holstein, MI, IA, NE, KS
My line comes from Mettigen, Westphalia. Martin and Ernest are common names in this line. I've never heard of any of the family being from Denmark. Will see if any of the older folks know of this. Most are gone so reliable info may be hard to come by. I believe some of the Knobbe branch moved to KS but not sure when or why. Will have to recheck my tree and let you know.
