Surnames: Knick Welchance Burnett
Larkin Oscar Knick was my great-great grandfather. He was married to Mary Anglin Knick and they had several children: Adam, Doak, Georgia, Katie and Clarence. There may have been more children that I have not listed here. Oscar's mother was Mary Welchance. She had been married to William D Welchance and then married William Knick. Oscar was actually William Welchance's son, but took the Knick name later in life. My great-grandmother was Georgia Knick. She married Walter Ernie Burnett in either Erath or Hall County, TX. They had four children -- James Cecil, Imogene, Nadine and Dorthadean. Dorthedean died just shy of her 4th birthday on 2-27-1926. Georgia died one week later on 3-6-1926. She was only 35 years old, and left my grandmother (Nadine) and her siblings motherless. For years my grandmother longed to know more about her mother and her family, but died in 2005 not knowing much. I'd like to get the answers to her questions.

If anyone has any information they can share, please let me know. Thanks so much -- jl_naumann@yahoo.com

Hi I have information on your GG Grandfather Larkin Oscar Knick.
My husband David Carol Knick is from the line of William and Melinda Welchhance. His Great Grandfather was James Leferrett.
Our cousins found in their research that Melinda (B.abt 1822) and Mary Ann (B.abt 1825) Welchhance were sisters. Their parents are William Daniel Welchhance and Charlotte Hostetter, marriage January 7, 1817 in Rockbridge, Virginia. We have Charlotte parents and grandfather's name. William and Melinda married September 4, 1838 in Rockbridge County, Virginia. They moved to Washington County, Tennessee, where the Welchhance's were already living. William and Melinda then moved to Murray County Georgia and Mary Ann came with them. On the way from Tenneesse to Georgia how ever long they traveled, Larkin Oscar was born.
It looks like they all lived together in Georgia.
Melinda filled for divorce on Tues. April 21, 1863. William and Mary Ann applied and received a marriage license on April 21, 1863 and were married two days after the divorce was final. They were married on April 23, 1863. Our cousin has a photo of William, Charlotte and and the two daughters Melinda and Mary Ann.
Would love to share any information with you! lindagknick@att.net

I too am a descendant of L O Knick and his wife Mary. Their oldest daughter was Nora Minnilee Knick who married Claude Clyde Bishop prior to the families move from Murray County, Georgia to Hico, Hamilton County, Texas, in 1902.

I sent more information via an email and look forward to learning more about your side of the family.
