Obituary: Oaka Price Easterlin, 90, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Greensboro Place, where she lived since September 1999.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Hanes- Lineberry Vanstory Chapel.
Survivors include two nieces, Jane Pack Knibb and husband, Donald of Greensboro and Oaka Pack Wortman and husband, Richard of Burlington; and several great-nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.

I have a different request. I hope you arn't affended. If this persons obit you are listing is a relative would you have any idea where the name "Oaka" came from? This was my grandmothers first name, and we always wondered where the parents got it.

Sorry, she's no relation. Being posessed of a great-uncle "Amazon", I can understand your curiosity about what our fore-parents were thinking when they named their children. Sometimes they were characters in books, but I have no idea about "Oaka".
