My father Sherwin Francis Kneale - Son of Joseph Benjamin Kneale - Son of Benjamin Kneale - Son of William Kneale .
My father's cousin Helen Von Graffen researched for a number of years for our ancestry. According to her (prior to her death) she had traced our line back approx. 600 to 700 years, I am going to the Oakland Mormon Temple and check thru Salt Lake since this is where it is all recorded.

Go to the Trotter Family Tree on Ancestry.com. It has alot of information regarding William Kneale. I would appreciate it if you could give me information so I could document the information you gave here. I am also interested in William Lockwood or Leece Kneale born 1878 to John Leece Kneale (the son of William and Catherine. You can contact me directly at vllanglois@yahoo.com

I am researching my family tree and noticed your post. I also thought that a relative of mine was a William Kneale who was Captain of the Parish of Lonan. I understood that he had 6 children, including a William Kneale who I thought married Bertha Coole - they in turn had a William Kneale who married Catherine Christian. They had 6 children including a Cyril Kneale who was my grandfather. Now it is highly likely I have got my facts wrong, but I would be very grateful if you could help me out.

Hi,
I have just started looking at this branch of the Leece family and have found 2 differing lots of info. One says that William Kneale and Catherine Leece's son William married Martha Ryley. The other lot says that he married Anna Maria Coole. Does anyone have any proof of which is correct? I'd love to hear from you if you do,
Thanks
Kim

I'm afraid I do not have proof, but I am certainly in the camp of a William Henry Kneale, born 1838 marrying Anna Maria Coole born 1840 - having two sons William Henry and James Coole.

I would be very interested to hear your research.

Pete

William b.1838 did indeed marry Anna Coole.

William b. 1844 (his paternal first cousin) married Martha Ryley.

Hope this helps

Hi Peter, you are correct except they had a third son Arthur Maxwell Kneale b. 1881 (Maxwell was Anna Cooles' mothers maiden name)
I would be keen to know who was the wife of your grandfather Cyril and also the wives of Cyrils brothers Sydney James Kneale and John Frederick Kneale. Hope you can help.

Laurence

I asked the question of my mother and it appears I wasn't quite right - William and Catherine had 10 children: 3 by his first wife (two girls who died and one boy - William) and 7 children with Catherine: Sidney James - m. Margaret Bunett?, John Frederick - m. unknown, Harry Edward - m. Ethel Kelly, Robert - died without family on Mona's Queen boat at Dunkirk, Kathleen - married Walter Kennedy, Cyril - m. Edna Kermode, Eric - married Catherine Livesey.

Of the above, where is your connection? I hope I've interpreted my mother's email right! I would be very interested to hear what you have by way of research.
