I would like to have any information available in regards my granfather Joseph Lewis Kneale born March 1897. He travelled to Europe and took part in the First World War before migrating to New Zealand. His mothers name was Sarah Kneale and fathers details are not recorded on his marriage certificate. Thank you, Sandra Cattermole

I have just started my family tree on the Kneale family, my mother in law was born in 1924, in Andreas, IOM. Her name was Mona Florence Kneale, she lived on a farm and had at least 2 stepbrothers. Any information would be of great help.

My mother in law was named Florence Kneale, her father, John Kneale's family came from the IOM, settled in Ohio and later relocated to North Dakota. Her family(friends or possible relatives) John Cannll was christened in Lezayre, 1840's, immigrated to Ohio and later to North Dakota. John Cannell had a daughter named Mona.

Please contact me at gpplatt@accessbee.com so we can talk further. There may be a connection here.

thanks!

Surnames: Kneale Howland

Hi

I think your Florence Kneale could be my great aunt. My Grandmother is Gladys Ednor Kneale from the Andreas, Jurby area in the Isle of Man. If they are related they then had three brothers and three sisters. Their mothers last name was Howland, I have not found her first name yet. Possibly Ann Jane or Eleanor Jane. Their father possibly Charles or Robert Kneale who died young of a heart attack at Ellersie Farm, Crosby and the children went on to live at Ballamoar childrens home or so I have been told.

Let me know if this information matches up with yours. I am desperately seeking Gladys Ednor Kneales parents names so I can continue with the family tree.

Your Gladys does not quite match...but surely she is related as all Kneales come from the Isle of Man (even the Australian Kneales which come from 2 girls who immigrated from Daniel Kneale's family in 1830+-)
You can trace the Kneales back the 13th century, through the church record. Google Isle of Man and Kneale family name...you will find your Kneale line going back.

Hi,

Thanks for you reply.

I am having trouble finding Gladys anywhere and the living family can't remember much. They came from Jurby area and their father died young and the children went to live in the children's home at Ballamoar. There isn't a trace of any of them anywhere. I guess a trip to the Isle of Man is in order. Any excuse to go over
