My husband Henry is the only son of the youngest son of 12 (also Henry or Heinrich) who came over from Germany with the widow Emma Knackstedt sometime before 1920.

We have many family pictures.

Hey, We have Knackstedts in our family

I don't know much about the family yet, I just started researching. I know that my great grandmother was Mildred Mae Knacksteadt. She married James Earl Calhoun. They lived in PA and have three children (living) that I know of. There are many Knacksteadts in PA. I went to a family reunion when I was young for that side. Please let me know if there is a connection. I will post anymore details I find. Thanks.

Sorry, my branch immigrated this century, I believe to the mid-west (Indiana...). I bet they started the same place though.

My greatgrandmother was Emma Behrmann Knackstedt. She was born in Germany in 1870. Greatgrandfather K. died in Germany in 1914. There were 12 children 3 of whom died in infancy. She came to the US in 1920 and settled in Hancock IA. She married Henry Windhorst in 1926 and moved to Burr,NE. Have more info. Are you in Canada? Hope to hear from you. My name is Henry Hans Knackstedt. You found my wife's posting. Her name is Lilly. My grandmother was Emma Knackstedt, and my father was her last born, Henry Hans Knackstedt. He was born in Germany in 1912. He came over on the boat with here in 1921 and moved to Iowa. I have their passports. After WWI my father moved to Alaska. I was born here in Kenai, Alaska in 1961 so I was born late in his life. in 1964 or so we visited the farm a family in Iowa and perhaps it included you. One of the family members that was there I met again just this summer. Her name is Trudy Anderson. Trudy's husband's mother was one of may aunts. I have a lot of information, since my father didn't throw things away. I have post cards dating back to about 1911. Please let me know who your grandparents were "my aunt/uncle". Ernie Knackstedt, my cousin, passed away a couple of years ago here in Kenai. His father was August Knackstedt, one of my uncles. He was raised in Canada. Lots more later I hope.

Henry
