My grandmother's maiden name is eleanor Knaebel. She is from Tell City her father's name was John Jerome Knaebel. The spelling was changed for some unknown reason. We would like to trace our family tree. Please e-mail me with any helpful info. thank you

My ancestors settled in Tell City in the 1800s. I have seen many different spellings of Knaebel, Knable, Knabel. Feel free to e-mail me at

Hi,I too am a Knabel. I know that there are multiple spellings of the name. I've heard that there was a falling out in the family some of the brothers chose to change their spellings.I live in Louisville there are several with each spelling here. I also know that there's several in Southern Indiana. I believe there's a Knabel Street in New Albany.

There are several Knable Streets in Floyd county. Knable Lane, Knable Court Knable Road. I have quite a bit of info on Knable lineage. I think most Knable Knaebel are related, I'm not sure about other spellings.

Would be interested in any info regarding the Knaebel's/Knable in Indiana. My father-in-law, Frank and some of his brothers moved to Missouri around 1915 or later. Would you have any info on his father, Charles and his sisters etc. Thanks

My husbands g-grandfather was Casper Knaebel. Frank was one of the sons of Charles Knaebel and Anna Zipp. So far we have found Charles to be the only son of Casper and Madgelena. I know Casper and Alouis Knaebel married sisters, Casper married Madgelena Marion and Alouis married Christina Marion. If you have further info, please send me a message. Missouri Knaebels would love to connect with Indiana Knaebels. Mrs. Francis Knaebel

My great grandmother was a Knable. Her name was Bertha Knable, she married Clarence Moore, and her father was Francis Knaeble. We are from the New Albany, Indiana area. Does anyone have any additional information that they can give to me? It would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
