I know the last name can be spelled several ways. But I believe it is Knable. I'm looking for info on Jerome Knable Sr., born 17 Jan. 1812 and died 13 Aug. 1882 in Troy, IN. His daughter, Philomena, is my great-grandmother, and I believe Jerome and his wife, Geneva/Genevieve Doll (?) had 11 (?) children, but I know little else. Please help me out if possible.

Brian, I don't know your family, but the ancestor I am working on is Andrew Knable from Dushore, Cherry Twp, Sullivan Co., PA, born in Germany, married in Boston to Margaret Lefever, lived in NYC, then came to the above area of PA from ca 1834 until 1865, after his wife died in PA, whereupon they moved to Minnesota. Do you have anything on this family. They had children by names of Henry, b 1832, Wm, b 1834, Charles b 1835, Sophia b 1837, Mary Jane b 1839, Ludwig b 1841, Sofirah b 1843, Maria b 1844, Catherine b 1846, Susanne, b 1847, Phillip b 1851 and Louisa b 1854. In researching PA, I found other Knables through the LDS, Sabina, b 1845 in PA to Jacob Knable; Salome b 1804 to Jacob Knable; Solome (Sally) b 1799 spouse John Walker Ambrose; Samuel Knable b 1820 to Jacob Knable, Jr.; Sarah, b 1789 to Jacob Knable, Jr.; Sabina Margaret Knable, b 1841 to Levi Knable and a Sarah Knable b 1775 in PA, with spouse of Jacob Harbaugh. Just sending you this for your information, in case it can help you.

My great-grandmother was Philomena Knable, daughter of Jerome Knable of Troy/Tell City, IN. August Albert must be her brother. Feel free to e-mail me at jbk319@aol.com to see what else we can come up with.

I am working on different branch that ties into Kay's Knable family. Just some new information in case this helps anyone. Andrew Knaeble came to the US in 1828, NY via Bremen. He was born in Oberndorf am Neckar, Wurttemburg, Germany. His name there was Andreas Knäble, and he came from quite a large Catholic family. The Familienregister ab 1808 (available at FHC's)also lists other Knables in the town.
