I don't think the chap in the photo I have could be your ancestor. He's more likely to have lived in Penn. The photo I have was shot, I believe, around the turn of the century. In the photo Gus appears to be in his twenties. Here's his pix

Names you mentioned were not found in the Ensminger Album wherein I found Gus Knaub. Gus appears to have been born around 1875 or so. The photo, I believe, was shot around the turn of the century. In the photo he appears to be in his mid twenties. See pix

Sorry, no idea on spouses for Gus Knaub as he appears on an album page along with one Bella Gable, obviously not his wife (at least when the album was put together).

Tom.

I do not have any young photos of Gus Knabe. I have attached a picture I took of his Alien Registration Card. It isn't very good but that is all I have.

Here's my photo of Gus Knaub (so spelled in album though written by a member of Ensminger family) See if you see some resemblance to your Gus. The photo is scanned at 200 dpi. I have a 600 dpi copy if you decided he's your guy.

I can't tell if that is him or not but I will try to do more searching. I don't know who his parents were. Can you tell anything more about him based on the book you found?

Unfortunately, I can't figure out as yet just why he's in the album. He doesn't seem to relate to anyone else. Nearly all the photos are identified, but he's the only "Knaube" in the book. The book belonged to the "Ensminger" family. Some of the other names were Wallick, Loucks, Sweitzer, Lentz, Folkemer, Gable, Schaeffer, Frank, Bubb, Kendig, Weiser, Sharp, Trout, Ziegler, Crumbling, Brenner, and Herrmann. If you see a familiar name that might coincide with a family name you know, let me know and I'll email the corresponding photos. I can say that, in my opinion, nearly everyone in the album appears to be an extended family member rather than a friend.
