I have been trying to research the history of our new (old) home and the cornerstone on our stone barn says, William Knabb, 1846. Through my searching, I've come to believe that maybe we are living in the homestead of William Hartman Knabb, son of Peter and Susanna (Herbein) Knabb. We are located in what is known as Exeter township now, in Berks county. We just bought this place last Feburary, and I'm interested in the history of the place. If it is indeed the former home of the Susanna you are referring to, perhaps we can arrange a visit,we're in the process of restoring the house and barns(was a dairy farm at some time, and then a horse farm when we bought it). Thje former owners redid the house in the late 1960's, early 1970's, in the grand style of shag carpet and lots of wood paneling, however we are slowly but surely putting it back to it's original state. The former owners removed the front porch, if you have any pictures of the house that would be a dream come true! (since we are wanting to put a porch on the house just like if not exactly the same, as what was originally here. We have even found what look to be cannon balls on the farm, maybe you had an ancestor in the war?Looking forward to hearing from you. Karen Graves
