During the process of researching my family, I have collected a lot of information for KNAACK's in the midwest (especially Illinois). If you have any information on KNAACK's (or similar surnames), or you are looking for info, please contact me.

I have Knaack ancestors that originated in Will County, near Chicago. My Grandfather's name was Fredrick, his father was Johannes (John) and his father was Johann. Johann is buried in a cemetery in Green Garden township.

My wife's maternal grandparents were Mathilda (Krüger) and Wilhelm Frank; they were born 25 Feb 1858 and 01 Dec 1855, respectively, in Rogzow, Kreis Köslin, Pommern, Germany; married 12 Dec 1880; and in 1881 they emigrated to the USA settling in Tolleston, Lake County, Indiana. (In 1905 or 06 Tolleston, which was a German community and settled in the early or mid 1800's, became part of the new city of Gary.)

Wilhelm Frank's maternal grandparents Maria Fredericka Carolina (Bücho) and Carl Knack emigrated to the USA in 1871 to live with their daughter-in-law and son Wilhelmina (Jahnke) and Wilhelm Knack. When the son died the parents invited the daughter Henrietta (Knack) Frank and her husband Ferdinand Frank to emigrate to the USA and live with them; however, the daughter was reluctant to leave Pommern as the family was well established in Germany and she wrote the parents that two sons, including their families, agreed to emigrate - they were Wilhelm and Carl Frank.

With the deaths of the son Wilhelm Knack and his family there are no longer any descendants with the Knack surname in Tolleston (Gary).

The Frank family in Tolleston had no information or knowledge of the Knack and Frank surnames and relatives in Pommern. Only recently have I started to research the Knack and Frank surnames in Poland as I understand that the town of Rogzow is now called Rokosovo.
